Settings and the Supernatural

This just happened a little bit ago. Getting my children through their nightly routine. Part of their routine on the weekends is, after a story they get an hour of tv time before bed.

My oldest informs me that she can’t find her remote for the Fire stick. The room isn’t super messy so we turn the tv on so it can load while we look for it. We start picking up stuffed animals and clothes.

The tv spooks us as it informs us that the voice view is on. The screen magnification also clicks on. I’m convinced that one of us is currently standing on the remote. We focus our search under our feet but find nothing. The menus keep clicking around with the tv talking in its cold robot voice.

My 9yr is on the verge of tears as we look. The volume gets louder, the voice view still talking and clicking buttons. As we begin to reach peak anxiety levels I get down on the floor to check the only spot we haven’t looked.

Under my child’s bed I see the remote. There is nothing under there with it but one lone shoe. That shoe is not touching the remote. Nothing was pressing on the buttons at all. I mute the tv and get into settings on the firestick. All the weirdness stops completely. I turned off the accessibility settings that seemingly turned themselves on, click into Netflix and settled my child into her bed. I gave her an extra 30 minutes of tv time.
